About the Project

Lanakila is a project focused on organizing competitive Pokémon events. Its goal is to make it easier for new players to enter the competitive scene, while still maintaining space for more experienced participants.

The Problem

Competitive Pokémon — especially the VGC format — offers deep strategic gameplay, but also requires players to process a large amount of information and make decisions quickly. For experienced players, this is part of the appeal. For newcomers, however, the amount of information can be overwhelming. Lanakila was created as an attempt to build a simpler and more structured tournament environment — a place where first steps in competitive play can naturally lead to regular participation.

Principles

📅 Events First

Lanakila is built around events. Instead of constant activity, the focus is on clearly scheduled tournaments with defined formats and timelines. The goal is to create well-organized events that players want to return to. These events are the main reason to be here.

🧩 Clarity and Predictability

Competitive Pokémon is already complex enough — it does not need additional noise. Formats, rules, and schedules are communicated clearly and in advance, allowing players to focus on playing. The project is not intended to function as a general chat server. Increased activity is expected mainly before, during, and after tournaments.

🌱 Accessible Competitive

The project aims to be accessible to new players without losing its competitive character. During events, support is available for organizational matters while maintaining consistent tournament rules. The goal is to make the first steps easier and encourage players to participate regularly.

🔄 Iteration and Feedback

Lanakila is an evolving project. Processes are gradually adjusted based on real events and player feedback. Changes are introduced carefully to maintain stability and predictability.

Tools

Lanakila uses several tools to organize events. The website provides tournament information, Discord is used for communication during events, and matches are played in Pokémon Champions or Pokémon Showdown. For larger tournaments, the Limitless platform may also be used.

Check upcoming events and take part in tournaments.
